Al Muirhead goes into studio to record debut album

Jazz veteran Al Muirhead has decided at 78 years old to record his debut album. The album will be a mixture of duo, trio, and quintet tunes with a band featuring old friends Tommy Banks (piano), PJ Perry (Sax), and will be joined by bassist Kodi Hutchinson and drummer Tyler Hornby. The album will feature music from Al's trumpet heroes including Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong, Bobby Shew, and Clifford Brown as well as some brand new original tunes written for this project. The album will be recorded in Calgary at the Station Studio's by Spencer Cheyne with the gracious support of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and some very special private donors.
